How the model works
The score predictor uses a Dixon-Coles Poisson model — a statistical approach widely used in football analytics.
It estimates each team's attack strength and defensive weakness from historical WC matches and recent
international results, weighted by competition tier and recency. A low-score correction (tau adjustment)
improves accuracy for 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, and 1-1 outcomes. Form adjustments and ELO ratings are blended
in to capture recent momentum heading into the tournament.
